20 Horror Sequels That Were Just Announced

7. Leprechaun 9

Just when you thought the Leprechaun franchise was well and truly dead and buried, it's coming back for a new ninth(!) installment.

The horror-comedy series' last entry was 2018's Leprechaun Returns, which served as a direct sequel to the original 1993 film while disregarding all other sequels. Lionsgate subsequently attempted to get various Leprechaun movies made to no avail, but it was recently confirmed that a new Leprechaun was indeed finally happening.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, best known for writing four entries into the Saw franchise, are penning the new film, details of which remain thin on the ground. It isn't clear if it's set to be a continuation, remake, or reboot, but in a statement, producer Oren Koules called it "a terrifying new way into the rich world of Leprechaun."

Either way, it's probably safe to assume that Warwick Davis won't star as the Leprechaun, what with his last appearance being in 2003's Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood.
