18. Ray Is One Of The Killers - I Know What You Did Last Summer
The new I Know What You Did Last Summer gets minor credit for doing an incredibly ballsy thing, even if it doesn't make a lick of damn sense and ultimately just alienated a large swath of the fanbase.
The slasher sequel's big final twist is that Stevie (Sarah Pidgeon) isn't the only killer; she was actually working in league with OG survivor Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
As it turns out, Ray wants revenge on the town of Southport for attempting to cover up the original 1997 massacre in order to boost tourism.
Ray credits the incident with ruining his life, and doesn't want the town to forget its violent past quite so easily. Even accepting the oft-told notion that hurt people hurt people, and folks tend to change considerably over decades, there's just nothing even remotely believable about Ray's heel turn.
It instead comes off as a desperate attempt to do something different with the legacy sequel formula - a clumsy dice-roll that falls totally flat on its face.
