20 Recent Horror Movies EVERYONE Knew Would Suck
6. Popeye the Slayer Man
Not content for Screamboat to take the crown for most craven horror cash-in, we have Popeye the Slayer Man, a film which can't possibly live up to its admittedly hilarious title.
The trailer at least didn't try to dress it up as anything that it isn't, but evidently tried to shift attention away from its poor writing and acting by focusing on the gory deaths of almost every major character. When you're giving too much of the good stuff away for free, it's never a good sign.
As with most of these movies, there's very little going on beyond the mildly amusing juxtaposition of taking an iconic children's character and turning them into a murderous psychopath.
Mindbogglingly, this was the most mainstream of three Popeye-centric slashers released this year - the other two being Popeye's Revenge and Shiver Me Timbers - all of which were largely panned by critics and general horror fans alike.
