20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Made PERFECT Casting Choices

7. Mikey Madison - The Masque of the Red Death

Last year, it was announced that A24 was developing a darkly comedic adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's famed short story The Masque of the Red Death, which follows a prince who attempts to avoid a plague called the Red Death by hiding out in his abbey.

Though word on the precise plot is being kept tight-lipped, the film is said to be a gender-flipped revision of the original text, with Mikey Madison set to play twin sister protagonists caught up in a world of, and we quote, "orgies, opium, power schemes, revenge and decapitations."

In movies such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Scream 2022, and, of course, Anora, Madison has proven herself a tremendously bold performer, and the eminent appeal of her playing opposite herself speaks for itself.

Curiously, the part was originally set to be played by Sydney Sweeney of all actors before scheduling conflicts got in the way, but from what we know of Poe's original story and this striking new take on it, Madison absolutely seems like the better choice.
