Coyotes is a totally watchable horror-comedy revolving around a couple, Scott (Justin Long) and Liv (Kate Bosworth), who find their house in the Hollywood Hills invaded by a pack of bloodthirsty coyotes.

The film has one big problem throughout, though, and one that's especially apparent in its finale - the blatant use of AI to bring the coyotes to "life."

While it's expected that a film like this would use digital doubles in favour of real animals, the coyotes here have such a distinctive AI-produced aesthetic that ultimately proves wildly distracting.

The generically airbrushed look aside, the limitations of AI effects also mean that the coyotes aren't actually shown doing a whole lot movement-wise, presumably just whatever the filmmakers could coax the AI model into pumping out.

Furthermore, the coyotes actually look somewhat inconsistent from shot to shot, leaving a sour taste by the time Scott and Liv finally triumph over the beasts and make their escape.
