Tom Hardy to mentor ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER?

We've spoke a great deal about who (villainous or not) Tom Hardy has been tapped to play in the next Batman movie but if Timbur Bekmambetov (Wanted) has his way, the London born actor might have another meaty part up his sleeve before he takes on The Dark Knight, who will, er, Rise. Hollywood's most wanted has been offered the Henry Sturgess role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the scene-chewing mentor/supporting part of the revisionist horror/comedy that Tim Burton will produce. Sturgess is basically the dude who teaches the 16th President of the U.S. about the history of vampires, and essentially trains him into becoming a pro-undead killer. Think the Henri Ducard version of Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, and a role we had previously predicated might fall to a much older actor. Last we heard, Bekmambetov was hoping his alternative reality Vampire horror/comedy would shoot in December, so conceivably the project is battling with the January shooting Snow White and the Huntsmen as Hardy's next role of choice before he re-teams with his Inception director for the third Batman movie. Needless to say, Hardy's agent has had more phone calls since Inception opened four months ago than the actor has had in his whole career previous. Let's hope he continues to take on challenging projects, in interesting movies. 20th Century Fox releases Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on June 22nd, 2012.
