10 2000s Albums That Are A Lot Better Than You Remember

5. Relapse - Eminem

If you considered yourself a hip hop fan in the '00s, you'd probably be sitting comfortable knowing that we wouldn't be talking about Eminem today. Since he had pretty clearly put his foot in his mouth one too many times after Encore and disappeared off the face of the earth after that, Slim Shady's time in the spotlight felt like it had finally run out, feeling like a cautionary tale for hip hop than anything else. Then Relapse happened, and Marshall gave us a different stripe of Shady.

The fact that Em sounds way better than Encore is already a plus on this outing, only to have him pick up a handful of bad habits along the way. Though the production on this thing is immaculate, most fans couldn't get behind the over-exaggerated accents he would pull out on tracks like Same Song and Dance, each of which add to the macabre stories he tells.

Even the bonus tracks included with the re-release of the album serve as fantastic cuts as well, including My Darling's twisted tale and Shady being brought back out to smoke every other rapper in the game on the track Forever. Given the amount of crap we got on the last record, where the hell had this guy been all this time?
