10 2010s Musicians Destined To Be One-Hit Wonders
2. Anne-Marie
Probably the most controversial pick on the list, but almost five years of UK hits and she can’t manage more than one hit in the US.
Maybe she is too British. Maybe she appears unlikable. Or maybe she is just in a crowded American market. Anne Marie has struggled to find fame in America despite supporting Ed Sheeran on his divide tour and scoring four UK Top 10 singles.
It was only 2018’s Friends that charted in the US, hitting number 11. Granted, she was assisted by hitmaker DJ Marshmello, who even managed British band Bastille to get a second hit in America with Happier that same year.
A radical change in sound is unlikely with her success in the UK, so a major feature slot or DJ collaboration must be needed to propel the 29-year-old to success in the 2020s.
Otherwise, Anne Marie will remain a One Hit Wonder in America.
