10 21st Century Rock/Metal Albums That Never Got A Sequel

4. Mammal - The Majority

Fiercely outspoken and committed to their beliefs, Australia’s Mammal were able to do the unthinkable in the late-2000s in giving funk rock a cool and dangerous image. With Faith No More gone, the genre had stagnated, with other one-time staples of the genre – Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Phish, and Incubus – either beyond dull or simply gone altogether.

Cue Mammal, who were building an impressive reputation in their homeland as a live act. So much so, they would pull a Jane’s Addiction and release a live album before their debut studio album, with Vol 1: The Aural Underground releasing in 2007. Mammal would finally release their highly anticipated full debut, The Majority, a year later, with lead single “Smash the Piñata” garnering regular rotation internationally, including frequent airing on UK TV music channel Scuzz.

With everything going so well, it only made sense to break up the band in 2009, with a statement owing the disbandment to “long standing personal, political, musical and business differences”.

Mammal would reconcile and reform in 2017 and have slowly released singles in the years since, but as yet, there has been no news or indication of a second album.
