There are a number of actors working in Hollywood today that have no problem staying confined in their roles as single-faceted members of the filmmaking community. And that's great. After all, who really expects someone as crazy talented as Leonardo DiCaprio or Denzel Washington to be good at anything else. That, quite honestly, just wouldn't be fair to the rest of us who are barely good at something. Then again, some actors are hellbent on destroying any level of self esteem we "regular folks" might have. They decide that being beautiful and proficient in front of the camera isn't enough, and go on to successful second careers as capable musicians. It's admirable, certainly, if not just the least bit infuriating. "Why the hell does Justin Timberlake get to be so musically gifted and a natural actor?" Right? What's that all about? Still, if you're able to put aside your envy and really listen to the music that some of these actors create, it's hard not to be impressed. It's not all worthy of comparisons to The Beatles or The Stones, but there's definitely some skillful musicians who spend too much of their time on movie sets.
