10 Albums Every Hawkwind Fan Should Own

7. Levitation

Hawkwind Levitation Now we hit the studio albums and this is the album that marked the start of the 1980s and a change of line-up that would have been hard to predict. The Live '79 line-up of Brock, Lloyd Langton, Bainbridge and Blake had a replacement drummer for Simon King in the form of ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker. Couple Baker's powerful drumming with Huw Lloyd Langton at his most ethereal (particularly on the start of 5th Second of Forever) the stand-out track from this album is the title track itself, Levitation, a story about an encounter with a spaceship and the offer to travel to the stars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4EmPpCsKJw
