10 Albums That Are Difficult To Listen To
4. Humanz - Gorillaz
Sometimes there are just warning signs that signal an album to be terrible from the minute it starts. Even though something like a horrible cover or a short runtime might be disconcerting at the beginning, there are many bands that have made fans see through the more superficial elements of their album. While the Gorillaz album Humanz is far from being the worst thing ever made, the track listing is what bogs it down way too much.
Being Damon Albarn's real return to form with the virtual group after going dark for a few years, Humanz was supposed to be the big triumph until you saw the back of the CD. Just from a visual perspective, the idea of having 20 tracks filling out your album is a little bit much. Since Gorillaz have always been known for their tight musical packages, the idea of stuffing this record with no less than 6 different interlude tracks just makes the entire experience feel a lot more jagged than it needs to be.
Anyone who bought the deluxe version of the CD is also in for a bit of a surprise, with the track listing going on even more to incorporate as much as nearly 40 tracks. While this was meant to be the Gorillaz' true resurrection, the fat that needs to be trimmed off of this record keeps it from being anything truly spectacular.
