10 Albums That Should Have Never Gotten Big

7. Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette

Not every album that populates this list necessarily has to be a failure. For every mediocre album that gets praise for no good reason, there are also those few albums that get the proper recognition they deserve without having to go too far over the top. So when you actually do start at the top, it's a long way to get back down to the ground.

Aside from her time as a child star back in the day, Alanis Morissette's first major release with Jagged Little Pill was a cultural cornerstone in the '90s, bringing a whole new feminine edge to rock and roll. Combined with singles like Ironic and You Learn, Alanis was starting to be mentioned as one of the greatest artists working at the time, which set up the pressure for a followup even more. Once they went into cut the next record though, it was almost expected to be glossed over.

By the time that Alanis finally tried to double down, there was nothing that could save her from herself, instead always being compared for not putting out stuff like You Oughta Know Part 2 for the rest of her life. As much as fame can be fun, it's not always that encouraging when you hit the ceiling of your success right out of the gate.
