8. Be Here Now—Oasis

Following the one-two punch of (What's the Story) Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe was never going to be an easy ask for Manchester BritPop icons Oasis.

The band was already facing all sorts of internal turmoil by the time their third studio album was being produced, with tensions between the Gallagher brothers reaching boiling point more than once.

But as long as they could keep producing snappy, witty rock hits, all would be alright.

Be Here Now, the third studio album from the band, was a sprawling, massive prog rock album, whilst their previous hits were tight, understated pop rock. Gone were the quick wit and sparsely arranged tracks in favour of seven minute dirges which made Champagne Supernova seem downright subdued.

The cheeky charm had been replaced by ambition, and arguably a bit more of it than the band's sound could handle. Though some critics have since defended Be Here Now, the album couldn't have been further from what fans expected, or what they wanted.
