10 Albums That Were Supposed To Be Great (But Fell Apart)

9. Be Here Now - Oasis

When you're on the rise to the top, you typically aren't supposed to think of the downfall. Even when things seemed stacked against you in the music industry, the goal is to keep pushing forwards in order to keep the focus primarily on the music. However, when you've reached the highest peaks any band could have hoped for, it might be nice to at least have a backup plan.

Going into production for Be Here Now, Oasis seemed to promise something even more grandiose than the rock standards of Definitely Maybe and What's the Story (Morning Glory)?, with every track stretched to a colossal length. On the other hand, it got a little too insipid when you realize that a bunch of these songs are just your average Oasis tune stretched out just for the sake of having long songs. As opposed to the more lengthy rock tunes like Stairway to Heaven or Hotel California, All Around the World just ends up sounding meandering by comparison.

After years of separation, it would seem that the members themselves have changed their tune on it a little bit as well, with Noel Gallagher going so far as to call it the result of a bunch of guys doing too many drugs in the studio and burning out. Just when it seemed like Oasis would cement themselves in rock history one more time, Be Here Now is the one moment where everything started to hit a wall.
