10 Albums We Waited An Eternity To Get

2. Chinese Democracy - Guns N' Roses

Wait: 14 Years

The long wait time for Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy has gone down in rock legend at this point. Ever since Axl Rose was left as the last man standing in Guns N' Roses, the idea of this new album manifesting itself became more and more of a fever dream as the years passed. By some stroke of luck though, fans across the world finally got to hear what Rose had been building towards in 2008.

Having been in production since 1994, Chinese Democracy is by far the most uneven record of Guns N' Roses' career, with songs that fluctuate from vapid to kickass. With Axl bringing in every guest musician he can find, the album has a solid foundation on some tracks while others feel shallow and aim to sound immense rather than make a statement.

The most shocking thing about this album is the fact that it cost $13 million to actually create. Instead of being one of the most spellbinding releases in the entire rock canon, this record seems like something that was obsessed over rather than naturally birthed. You can still hear that rough and tumble band in there somewhere, but it seems that the musical magic of Guns N' Roses did end up dwindling over time.
