2. Kill - Cannibal Corpse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMdZT0eSoD0 When people say death metal, nine times out of ten the first band that comes to mind is Cannibal Corpse. Arguably the most successful death metal band Cannibal Corpse tick every box when it comes to the characteristics and style of the genre; gruesome artwork - check, bellowing vocals - check, fast-paced and crushing music - check! With thirteen albums under their belt, a starting point for new fans can be a rather difficult choice but first it is important to understand that there are two eras of Cannibal Corpse to listen to and fall in love with. The Chris Barnes era is based around the band's first four studio records as he provided the vocal work and gory lyrical content and since his departure George Fisher (better known by his stage name Corpsegrinder) took hold of the reigns from 1995 up to present day. For a first album to dive into and fall straight in love with, we highly recommend 2006's Kill. This album has all the fundamentals of death metal covered over 13 tracks of utter carnage. Riffs are heavy, ferocious and fast-paced, drumming is consistently solid and Alex Webster's bass work is a marvel to the ears, not to mention Fisher's exceptional vocals with growls and snarls so vicious it makes a lion look like a kitten. With song titles such as 'Make Them Suffer, 'Five Nails Through The Neck' and 'Submerged in Boiling Flesh', Kill contains all the gore and violence you expect to hear from death metal.
