10 Albums Which Will Make You Fall In Love With Death Metal

3. Nihility - Decapitated

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-XkMUQ4yN0 Technical death metal can often be a marmite sub-genre of death metal to people who are just discovering the genre. Even those who pride themselves on listening to heavy music can be disheartened by constant guitar-competitiveness that is so common in technical death metal. Poland's Decapitated however, provide a fantastic gateway into a world of precision and fury that makes one truly exhilarating listening experience. Guitar work builds complicated guitar rhythms, drum work that feels like consistent punches to the chest and vocals so menacing it would tame a beast are all evidence of a unique and chaotic formula that Decapitated have created. Fans of the band may be puzzled to why we didn't choose their début Winds of Creation but for the purpose of providing an album that new fans can instantly fall in love with, 2002's Nihility does the job nicely. The entire album is jam-packed full of technical riff work and drumming that is godly. 'Babylon's Pride' has one of the most chaotic riffs the genre has to offer and 'Mother War' features some of the most impressive vocal work on the album; lyrics are growled quickly and it all combines to create a frantic and brutal sound. Not to mention the fan favourite 'Spheres of Madness' which has one of the most entertaining and brilliant introductions to a song in death metal...
