10 Albums You Loved As A Teen (But Should Never Listen To Again)
2. Employment (Kaiser Chiefs)
Released: 2005.
Why You Shouldn't Listen: The latest release on this list, 'Employment' landed in March 2005 to critical acclaim and cries that Kaiser Chiefs were a Britpop indie saviour who could keep the genre going for years to come. It had touches of Sex Pistols' snarl about it, and combined that punk-ish flavour with Paul Weller's mod movement.
The biggest tracks, like 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less', opened the album with a wallop, but it was all downhill from there. Much like almost every album here, 'Employment' suffered from a lack of staying power throughout the entire thing. In fact, it was wearing thin just three songs in.
The cover art boasted that the disc was "A Box Of Tricks" and had "Thrills For All". It wasn't and doesn't, not really, and that's wholly evident 14 years on. There are only so many 'Na Na-Na Na' choruses one music lover can take before Ricky Wilson's attempts to rekindle The Jam's success grows tiresome.
