10 Albums You Loved As A Teen (But Should Never Listen To Again)

7. Enema Of The State (Blink-182)

Blink 182 Enema Of The State
MCA

Released: 1999.

Why You Shouldn't Listen: Hot babe on the album artwork. Check. Sophomoric song titles. Check. Whingy vocals interspersed with less-whiny ones. Check. Big hit single. Check. Yes, Blink's 1999 release 'Enema Of The State' ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to packaging and presentation, but it's decidedly uncool 20 years later.

The fact that Blink-182 shot a send-up video for 'All The Small Things' that poked fun at boybands and pop music as a whole is wonderfully arrogant. They, with this third album, dispensed with their traditional punk sound in favour of a more commercial one, and that wasn't lost on critics who couldn't stomach their parodical p*ss taking at a time the band were blowing up in the mainstream.

Unfortunately, time has caused Blink's one-time classic to become akin to something Sum 41 would spew out from the studio. It's an all-too awkward reminder that they weren't quite the spitting, anti-authority punks or arena rock Gods some claimed them to be depending on which day of the week it was.
