10 Amazing Bouncebacks In Rock History
4. Aerosmith - The ENTIRE 80's
There were a lot of artists' careers that were dead after the arrival of MTV. Yeah, it turns out that the era of dopey looking rockstars who just happened to play kickass riffs wasn't going to fly once they had to transition to the small screen. However, even before the '80s, no one was expecting much out of Aerosmith.
After Joe Perry left the fold, these guys were all but dead in the water, as they struggled to get any songs on stations and even resorted to playing small clubs instead of the arenas they had once packed. Even when Perry returned to the fold, things weren't really looking up until they got involved in hip hop. Once their collaboration with Run-DMC on a cover of Walk This Way set everything in motion, these Bad Boys from Boston ended up conquering the hard rock world all over again.
Since the hair metal explosion took the best portions of Aerosmith's sound from the early days, this new era fit them like a glove, with albums like Pump and Permanent Vacation giving the new kids like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue a run for their money. For an act that was destined for the bargain bins for a while, Aerosmith managed to reignite their fanbase almost on a dime.
