10 Amazing Covers Albums In Rock And Roll Music

9. Foreverly - Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones

Towards the end of the cycle of Uno Dos and Tre, Billie Joe Armstrong was still on the mend for a while. After checking himself into rehab in light of the disastrous iHeartRadio meltdown, he needed to recuperate before he even thought about getting to work on another Green Day record. It was time to take a rest from punk rock, and Billie found his way to the other side by tackling the stone age of rock and roll.

Working with jazz pop legend Norah Jones, Foreverly is a recreation of the Everly Brothers' album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, which actually works surprisingly well for Billie's nasal punk voice. Since he had already been getting some experience on Broadway in light of the American Idiot production, he feels right at home doing these classics justice, especially when he and Jones harmonize on the chorus of Silver Haired Daddy of Mine.

Granted, it's not hard to see why some of the more mainstream Green Day wouldn't really vibe with this album, almost confirming those rumors that Green Day had sold out all the way back on Dookie. Anyone can just sell out and try their hand at the easy listening genre though. Billie was looking to learn from the writers that came before him, and this may as well have been his classic rock homework.
