10 Amazing Follow Ups To Masterpiece Albums

7. Meteora - Linkin Park

It's almost dangerous to give a band on their debut the reception that Linkin Park got when they released Hybrid Theory. Even when nu metal was considered to be on the way out at the turn of the century, the band's eclectic mix of hip hop, metal, and electronic elements seemed to strike a nerve with almost everyone who heard it, propelling their debut record to Diamond certification in no time at all. The thought of even equaling something like that feels impossible, but Meteora may be the best Linkin Park record with the benefit of hindsight.

Not wasting a second when recording on the road, you can tell that the band were going for a more album-centric experience rather than just a random collection of singles. Whereas some songs like Crawling have become the focus of many memes in the past few years, Meteora taps into something a little more close to the bone, like the sullen loneliness of Easier to Run or contemplating suicidal thoughts during Breaking the Habit.

Even with the more downtrodden turn happening in the lyrics, this managed to equal what Hybrid Theory did on the charts, with over half of the track listing reaching No. 1 on the alternative charts. In an era that seemed like they were going to be a flash in the pan, this album let us all know that we shouldn't turn our backs on Linkin Park. THEY WON'T BE IGNORED.
