The few and far between modern day examples show that when done right, the style still has the same effect on its audiences. Perhaps it reminds us of a time when we thought magic was real. With that in mind, Fleet Foxes used the classic animation style to bring their White Winter Hymnal to life and the effect is stunning. By using a visual form from the past, they drive their somber ode to time passing straight to our core. We go from feeling old to young and then old again and the impression that leaves on a person is unique and specific to each individual watching.
