10 Amazing Rock Bands That Almost Had The Wrong Members

8. Corey Taylor - Velvet Revolver

When Velvet Revolver were first getting started in the '00s, there were probably tons of names floating around to work with. Since these were members of one of the biggest rock bands of the past 20 years, they could have found a singer in a lot of icons, with Ian Astbury of the Cult being in consideration before Scott Weiland joined. Before even Weiland though, Velvet Revolver was originally going to be a lot darker than most people realized.

In the slews of auditions that were happening at the time, Corey Taylor of Slipknot actually came down for a handful of rehearsals, where they started to finetune a few ideas and turn them into songs. Keep in mind, this is also at a time when most fans didn't know what the guys in Slipknot looked like behind their masks, which would be a pretty jarring experience had this version of the band actually gotten some dates to play live.

Somewhere in the shuffle though, the schedules for each respective band started to clash, with Corey having to go back on the road with Slipknot and having to put his original Velvet Revolver tapes on the shelf. Though it's still up in the air as to whether we will ever hear those handful of demos, Taylor has said that it was worth it if only for him turning into a fanboy seeing Slash play 5 feet away from him.
