10 Amazing Rock Bands That Went Pop

9. Ghost

If you looked at a band like Ghost, there;s no real excuse for having a band like this storming up the charts. After all, the stripe of music fan who fancies themselves an aficionado of the Satanic chamber music Tobias Forge made in the early days isn't holding out hope for it to go toe to toe with Lady Gaga or anything. Once the Papa got demoted to Cardinal though, things started to get a lot more lively on Prequelle.

Across every single second of Ghost's last album, you can hear bits and pieces of hookiness seeping into the traditional baroque metal fold, as songs like Rats sound like something that could have come from the glam era of someone like Ozzy Osbourne. It doesn't really let up from there either, as songs like Dance Macabre take you through a metal disco and Miasma even breaking out the saxophone for a few minutes during the lulls.

As much as Ghost could have been a little much for your average metal fan to take in, this flirtation with the lighter side of rock and roll has worked out pretty well for them. Though we may not know many of these ghouls names, it's safe to say that they have been blessed by the dark overlords with some truly awe inspiring chops.
