10 Amazing Rock Bands That Went Pop

8. Aerosmith

Whenever you look at bands that go pop, you normally try to see if the radio rock fits them to begin with. While there are some that seem to slide comfortably into the AM radio format, there are also acts like Slayer who don't belong in the same area code as the word 'accessible.' Which makes it all the more tragic when you see the potential of a pop transition being squandered like Aerosmith.

For most of the '70s, Aerosmith certainly had their fair share of amazing moments, with both Rocks and Toys in the Attic being mandatory listening for any who considers themselves a rock aficionado. Once everyone got sober though, the outside songwriters started to creep in ever so slightly. Though not that much of a hinderance on songs like Angel or Rag Doll, the late '90s saw the band get swallowed whole by the pop machine after I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.

Ever since their big movie smash, Aerosmith have virtually tried everything they could to get themselves back on the charts, from the rapid fall from grace with Just Push Play to doing their best to course correct on Music From Another Dimension. Despite having a decent blues covers album lost in the shuffle, The Bad Boys From Boston are sounding a lot less dangerous these days.
