10 Amazing Rock Songs Written For Movies

8. I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith

There's probably a certain subset of Aerosmith fans who hate I Don't Want to Miss a Thing with every fiber of their being. Compared to the trademark rock and roll you would get from the good old days of Aerosmith, this song for Armageddon sees the band firmly on soundtrack mode, determined to get the coveted #1 they so desperately craved. Even though many fans would rather have any other Aerosmith track at the top spot, this made its way into superstardom for a damn good reason.

With a core written by songwriter Diane Warren, this is one of the most beautiful melodies to ever have Aerosmith's name attached to it. Instead of going too over the top right out of the gate, Steven Tyler actually does a great job at building up that chorus in the verses, almost as if he's a lovesick puppy ready to pounce.

Once the whole chorus opens up to strings, the song comes alive, as everything is produced to perfection. Yeah, this kind of production is exactly the reason why people can't stand modern Aerosmith, but this is the one time where the actual song power doesn't suffer for it. And let's face it, when it comes to a movie about oil drillers blowing up an asteroid in space, this is just the right kind of cheese that will go down just fine.
