10 Amazing Songs That Artists Hate

2. Sweet Child O Mine - Guns N Roses

As the '80s wore on, Guns N Roses were really a breath of fresh air in Los Angeles. Coming from the same stomping grounds that birthed acts like Poison and Warrant, these misfits were actually rooted in a far grittier version of rock and roll, playing badass licks in the vein of Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones. On the other hand, the band's real breakthrough to success actually came out of a joke.

As Slash and drummer Steven Adler started to get things started at rehearsal, the guitarist was fiddling around with a melody meant to simulate a circus. Once Axl Rose got ahold of it though, he was awestruck and immediately starting writing lyrics to the song inspired by his girlfriend Erin Everly. Despite Slash not feeling as confident in the song, the resulting Sweet Child O Mine became one of the most timeless tracks in rock and roll, with guitar players itching to figure out how it's played.

Taking to the road, Slash's fears had come true when the song became a concert staple, forcing him to play the same incessant riff night after night. This didn't let up on his solo tours either, with Sweet Child still in the setlist with Myles Kennedy behind the mic. Though Slash's life of rock and roll seems ideal for any aspiring rock star, this is probably the one song that tends to feel like busy work.
