10 Amazing Songs That Were Never Performed Live
2. Daddy - Korn
There are many different factors that go into whether a song is good for a live performance or not. As much as you would love to play your entire discography for anyone that would hear it, you always run into different technical malfunctions with trying to put the take on the record into a stage production. In Korn's case though, you might want to avoid certain songs for your own health.
After years of being titans of the nu metal scene, Korn's debut is still one of the heaviest records in their catalog, thanks in no small part to Daddy. Being the apex of the entire project, this elongated piece feels more like a stream of consciousness than an actual song, as Jonathan Davis pours out his heart discussing the abuse that he suffered as a child. Across every minute, you can hear Davis at his wit's end, almost cracking up midway through the production.
This version almost didn't even happen at all, with the rest of the band encouraging him to let it out before embracing in a group hug after the take was over. At this point, Davis has washed his hands of the incident and has been determined never to get into that mindset again. So why the hell would you even want another performance of this song? Hell, consider yourself lucky that you at least got it once.
