10 Anticipated Rock Music Albums Coming Out In 2022

4. Alt-J - The Dream

After the disjointed last album from alt-J, fans have been waiting for something of a comeback. As is the routine with this band, they've preceded their upcoming album with some pretty eclectic singles. The first and most satisfying being U&ME. Typical of alt-J, its something of a slow burner; luring you into an ambient calm, while subtly building an irresistible groove.

Last November they dropped Get Better - it was drastically different from their first single. Joe Newman has little more than a softly plucked guitar melody accompany his equally soft vocals. It's a tender and pleasant track that exhibits the group's range.

Two weeks ago we were treated to Hard Drive Gold. Channeling a hint of Portugal The Man, this is the first time we've heard the group release anything that vaguely resembles what their contemporaries are doing. It's suitably weird in that alt-J way, but it does have the hint of sounds we've heard elsewhere.

The group have no issue turning their hands to varying styles, the trick will be tying them together succinctly - something they failed to do on their last album. The Dream is set for release next month.
