10 Artists Who Got Away With Totally Breaking The Law

6. Chuck Berry

To many people, Chuck Berry is the guy who wrote the song Marty Mcfly played in Back to the Future, "Johnny B. Goode", but to many other people he is the father of rock n' roll. John Lennon himself once stated that if we were to give rock n' roll another name, we might call it Chuck Berry. However, writing classic rock songs and popularising a whole genre wasn't all he got up to in his long illustrious career. As a young high school kid, he was arrested and charged for armed robbery; the details of the event are a little unclear, but he did end up serving a few years in prison because of it. However this wouldn't be the last time he had a run in with the law, in 1959 he was arrested in St Louis on the charges of the illegal transportation of a 14 year old girl for "immoral purposes". Again the details are a little sketchy with Berry claiming that he was offering her legitimate employment and the she was anything but innocent. His crime spree wasn't over however, as in 1979 he pleaded guilty to tax evasion. Perhaps the most shocking case though was in 1989 where Berry was accused by sixty women of videotaping them changing and using the bathroom with hidden-cameras. Though Berry eventually admitted the tapes existed, he was insistent on his innocence. The case was eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.
