8. Ozzy Osbourne
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwDpAfFzcRQ Ozzy Osbourne first found mainstream success in the late 1960s/1970s as the lead vocalist to pioneering rock/metal band Black Sabbath. The groups 1971 album Paranoid, which featured a number of classic rock staples such as the eponymous track and War Pigs, changed music forever according to Rolling Stone magazine, which also dubbed the group, The Beatles of heavy metal, however the erratic Osbourne was booted out of the band by his mates in 1979 because of his heavy drug and alcohol abuse. Despite getting kicked to the curb, Osbourne managed to keep his life together and launch an extraordinarily successful music career. His debut solo record Blizzard of Ozz has achieved quadruple platinum status, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The album contains one of the most popular and recognisable heavy metal songs of all-time in Crazy Train (which, surprisingly, never charted). In addition to his success as a vocalist, one of Ozzys most successful ventures was organising the Ozzfest heavy metal and hard rock music festival during the 1990s. The annual event is still going strong today. Osbourne also became a pop culture icon for being one of the first musicians to appears on himself on a reality show; The Osbournes. Running on MTV from 2002-2005, it remains one of the most popular shows ever to air on cable channel.
