10 Artists Who Left Amazing Bands To Create Something Better

7. Justin Timberlake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gOHvDP_vCs While he was first put on the pop culture map as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, Justin Timberlake reached supernova status as part of the late 90s pop group €˜N Sync. The group was one of many interchangeable boy-bands to emerge and sell an astronomical number of records during this era, but €˜N Sync were arguably the most successful (fans of the Backstreet Boys would disagree). The group€™s second album, No Strings Attached, is notable for selling one million copies in a single day. Despite being the group€™s youngest member, Timberlake had all the makings of being €˜N Sync€™s breakout star. And he proved those assumptions correct when he set out on a solo career in 2002, effectively ending €˜N Sync for good. Timberlake€™s evolution from a €œjust another pretty face€ pop singer into a legitimate, multi-faceted performer cannot be denied. His first two solo albums, Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds each sold more than seven million copies, generating a number of Billboard Hot 100 number one hits such as SexyBack, My Love and What Goes Around...Comes Around. Then, in 2007, Timberlake took a step back from the recording studio and focused on building his acting career. That choice worked out for him as he starred in a number of commercially successful films such as Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits, along with the critically acclaimed 2010 film The Social Network.
