1. Watch the Throne
A supergroup? Or is it a collaboration? Or is it just two guys shouting at each other? Watch the Throne is a collaboration between Jay-Z and Kayne West. Both artists are big names in their own right but their Watch the Throne album of 2011 brought them to new highest with No.1 placings in 6 countries including the United States and UK. In 2011-2012 they took the album on tour, playing five nights consecutively in the 02 Arena and an additional three nights in Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham. The tour became one of the highest grossing of 2011-2012 and set new targets for up and coming hip-hop artists. Whether you like Hip-Hop or not it is undeniable that the genre has recently become a festival favourite. Jay-Z may have headlined Glastonbury to mixed reception in 2009 but since then Hip-Hop has grown in popularity on the festival circuit. At Coachella, Jay-Z headlined in 2010, Kanye West in 2011 and Dr. Dre+Snoop Dogg in 2012. Eminem is already confirmed to be headlining Reading +Leeds this year after headlining V Festival in 2011 and T in the Park in 2010. So, will we see another major festival have a headline slot filled with a Hip-Hop Artists? It is difficult to predict but Watch the Throne seem the most likely. So what do you think? Is there anyone else you think could headline Glastonbury this year that are not included on this list.
