10 Artists That Went Too Far For Classic Songs

7. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac

Anyone going through a breakup is never really going to be at 100% when going back into work. After falling out with one of the most important people in your life, some of that pain is bound to rear its head sooner or later, and it can even be difficult to even have the urge to pick up a guitar. That's already tough enough...now imagine the person that you broke up with has to be across the room from you every single day as you make your songs.

As the making of Rumours played out, Lindsey Buckingham had had a fairly nasty split from Stevie Nicks and was starting to get more and more agitated with his place in the band. Although Stevie offered her own take on the breakup with the song Dreams, Go Your Own Way was Lindsey's bitter heartbreak song, talking about wanting to give her the world if she wants it and her shutting him down every single time. That's not how Stevie remembers it though, saying that all he wanted to do was go to bed with his guitar half the time.

During the actual sessions, some of the engineers had some pretty harsh accounts of what was happening, from both of them getting into screaming matches halfway through recording to seeing Stevie physically grow cold and distant when they had to play this song in the rehearsal room. Then again, if you had to play on a song about how much of an ass you are, you wouldn't exactly have warm feelings about it either.
