10 Artists Who Always Had The Best Music Videos

9. Pink Floyd

Notable Mentions: Another Brick In The Wall, Welcome To The Machine, Learning To Fly, High Hopes

Some of the music videos Pink Floyd have produced over a five-decade career have been just as thought-provoking and complex as their music, if not with some outright disturbing imagery in some of their work.

Music videos for the band have always been an opportunity to put some of the complex themes and metaphors they use in their incredible tracks to life. In multiple videos the group has used animator Gerald Scarfe to create some very grotesque cartoons, both thrilling and disturbing at the same time. That's most notable on the videos for 'Welcome To The Machine' and 'Another Brick In The Wall', which uses live-action schoolkids, interspersed with a cartoon headmaster putting his pupils through a sausage grinder, a metaphor for the rigid schooling and institutionalisation the band disagreed with.

The group have also been known for some wonderful direction on their live-action videos too. 'Learning To Fly' in particular has some stunning cinematography of the West Wind Ridge mountain near Alberta. There's also some incredible footage of a red-tailed hawk flying off to highlight the themes of independence and growth in the song.
