10 Artists Who HATE Their Own Albums

1. Sgt. Peppers - The Beatles

You pretty much can't go wrong across any album in the Beatles' catalog. From the fun-filled ride of A Hard Day's Night to the masterstroke of Abbey Road, every single one of the band's releases set the foundation as to how a rock band's career should go. However, if there's one record that really shows each member at the height of their powers, it has to be Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

More than just an album, this entire record was a gamechanger in the world of pop music, with some of the most wild sounds coming from the perspective of this imaginary band on the cover.

While this idea is still seen as brilliant today, the harshest critic of this was John Lennon, who expressed to never liking the actual concept of the record. Hell, even in interviews, Lennon went so far as to say he wrote the song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" just so he could be represented on the album, which he felt was dominated by Paul McCartney.

While the band might not have seen eye to eye on the conceptual work, the songs at hand are still a great time capsule of the '60s and a distinct movement towards newer sonic ides in the world of rock. Lennon may have been a bit cynical about his work, but this album will continue to be lauded as a masterpiece so long as we still have our ears open.
