10 Artists Who Never Managed To Top Their First Album

1. Sex Pistols

The Pistols' inability to top their debut album, Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols, is the fault of no one but themselves. The English punk icons are much like Nirvana in the sense that they hit hard and fast, knocking the music industry flat out before flaming out due to their own destructive behaviour. The Sex Pistols are widely regarded as one of the must influential bands in history, as widely known for their controversial antics as they are their music. Yet despite that turbulence - or possibly even because of it - Never Mind The Bullocks was hailed by Rolling Stone as 41st on their list of The 500 Greatest Albums Ever and Time Magazine chose it as one of the 100 greatest albums of all time. Their original run only spanned the one album, although in later years several live records and compilations would follow, but that one album was responsible for inspiring countless significant figures in the music industry to follow in the path rebelliously carved out by the Pistols. While their star may have burned out hard and fast, there's no denying it was an intense supernova fuelled by sonic rage and revolution. True to the anarchistic spirit of the Sex Pistols, they've even refused to attend their own induction to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. Is there anyone who should've made this list instead of the artists chosen? Sound off in the comments!
