10 Artists Who Released Their Best Album First

9. What Are You So Scared Of? - Tonight Alive

Although a couple of EP's showcased their talents before the first album hit shelves, Tonight Alive popped onto the pop-punk scene with their first album, What Are You So Scared Of? and with it came 14 top-tier pop punk anthems.

The Australian band, much like every other female fronted outfit, immediately drew comparisons to Paramore, and while both exist in a similar realm of music, Tonight Alive were packed with so much more energy from the get-go. The band have never quite reached the power of the first album, but it's evident that they've come mighty close as time has passed.

Tracks like Reason to Sing will have you screech the high notes with reckless abandon and just a mere two tracks later the album transitions to heartfelt and honest offerings like Amelia. All before departing with the titular track that only leaves you wanting more.

2013's The Other Side is also deserving of unrelenting praise, and refines their sound beautifully. Limitless saw the band take a new direction and fell victim to the 'difficult third album' trope before the band returned to form with 2018's Underworld, and while all were enjoyable, the pleasant surprise of the first simply makes it a cut above.
