10 Artists Who Totally Ripped Off The Arctic Monkeys

6. Kanye West

Unfortunately, US Presidential nominee Kanye West hasn't ripped off Arctic Monkeys in terms of music - yet (though that would be something to see).

However, the artwork to West's standalone collaborative single "Champions" looks conspicuously like the cover of Arctic Monkeys' fourth studio record, "Suck It And See".

And while stealing artwork might not be considered as big a deal as imitating music, bands create and cultivate an aesthetic to sell a record and create a distinct visual identity.

When a bigger artist comes around and steals the aesthetic, that artist can be said to infringe on the band's creative space, and fans of the bigger artist would be forgiven for thinking a band they'd not heard of had stolen their favourite rapper's album art. It's the same reason why Bring Me The Horizon were so incensed by the reveal of Coldplay's "A Head Full of Dreams" artwork (which seemed to take inspiration from "Sempiternal") - and, being as active as he is in the music industry, Kanye really should have known better.
