10 Awesome Albums Made Entirely Of Outtakes

7. Milk And Honey - John Lennon And Yoko Ono

With the album Double Fantasy quickly garnering success, John Lennon seemed to be on his way to having a career resurgence as the 80's dawned. Though Lennon had greater career triumphs awaiting him, none of them would come to pass after December 8, 1980 when he was gunned down outside his New York apartment.

After the initial mourning period for her soulmate, Yoko Ono decided to not let Double Fantasy be the final taste fans got to hear from her husband. Upon looking through his demos, Ono found that there was more than enough material for a second album of Lennon's work. The result was Milk and Honey, which stuck to the same structure of trading between John and Yoko's respective songs. The posthumous Lennon songs give the impression of a man entering a new chapter in his life, with songs like "Borrowed Time" and "Nobody Told Me" sounding like the same guy the world fell in love with in the 60's.

While fans can only speculate as to what Lennon would have done with these ideas had he lived, it's nice to see one of the icons of rock aging gracefully into his new life. It may sound like "dad rock" in places, but the end results are too hooky to deny.
