10 Awesome Music Festivals We Should All Aim To Visit

7. Lollapalooza €“ U.S.A

Originally a travelling festival, Lollapalooza was conceived back in the 1990's by Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, and enjoyed an initially very fruitful run between '91 and '97. Side-lined for five long years, the now world-famous event returned triumphantly in 2003 with arguably its best line up to that point. Sonic performances from Audioslave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, as well as Jane's Addiction (of course) brought Lollapalooza kicking and screaming back into relevance €“ though also cemented concerns that the event may be better off as a stationary festival, as opposed to one which labours its way around the north American sub-continent each and every summer. Residing exclusively in Grant Park, Chicago since 2005 (2004's event was cancelled on the back of poor ticket sales), Lollapalooza has gone from strength to strength, presumably as a direct result of its awesome moniker. This year's Lollapalooza (I just can't stop typing it!) goes down between August 1st and 3rd.
