10 Awesome Openings In Terrible Songs

9. Band On The Run - Wings

Paul McCartney gets a lot of grief for his solo work. Agreed, it might not be as good as his Beatles stuff, and yes, George Harrison and John Lennon most definitely delivered better post-Beatles music, but Macca still produced some bangers. Plus, he will always be better than Ringo in the solo department and that's something. Sorry, Ringo.

One of Macca's finest projects upon leaving the Beatles was the husband and wife (and other people that we don't remember) collective of Wings. Wings were what many would call inconsistent, now again you'd get a real cracker only to be dragged into some random music hole such as My Love.

Band On The Run is a good example of Wings and their inability to give it 100%. It is split into two halves, much like the early days of the Beatles. However, this time the first half is most certainly Macca yet the rest of it fails to live up to the standards of John Lennon. What we do have though is a Beatlesesque introduction that really highlights McCartney's range as a singer, something that is often underrated. Sadly, we only get a few seconds of it.
