10 Awesome Openings In Terrible Songs
8. Hooked On A Feeling - Blue Swede
Everybody! Ooga-chaka Ooga-chaka Ooga-chaka Ooga-chaka.
The intro to Hooked On A Feeling is purity at its best. It's new, it's innovative, it's out of this world. It relies on made-up words and pure nonsense to produce one of the coolest intros ever invented. It's funny, it's strange, it has been featured on everything and anything that you could ever think of and it is as confusing as hell, but it works. That's why it is so infuriating that as soon as the "real" song kicks in we are left with a tune that is as unwelcome as an undeletable U2 album on your iTunes.
It singlehandedly turns from one of the most bizarre (in a good way) things ever, into one of the worst songs in the history of songwriting. In fact, the rest of the song isn't even worth talking about, it shouldn't even be referred to as a song, a tune, or even a collection of instruments, it really is that bad.
However, like all dark and stormy events, there is a patch of bright blue sky. This time coming in the form of David Hasselhoff and one of the greatest covers in living history. You can always count on the Hoff to cheer things up.
