10 Awesome Rock Music Songs With Terrible Lyrics

9. Human - The Killers

Oh dear.

To give them credit, The Killers have turned out some utterly spectacular lyrics over their long career.

Songs like When You Were Young and Somebody Told Me are sensationally written and Mr. Brightside is practically modern poetry by this point.

Unfortunately, nobody's perfect.

Take the whole "soul/soldier" thing from All These Things That I've Done. Not great that, but at least it's better than this.

The Killers' synth-rock monster hit Human is already on dodgy ground when it opens up with this:

I did my best to notice/When the call came down the line/Up to the platform of surrender/I was brought, but I was kind

Brandon Flowers seems to switch perspectives halfway through, going from a man brought before a mighty power only for him to be the one to deliver the final judgement.

And then there's the chorus...

Are we human/Or are we dancer?/My sign is vital/My hands are cold

Yikes.

"Are we dancer?" What does that mean?

It's apparently a reference to something Hunter S. Thompson said about the American youth being raised to be "dancers", but how was anyone supposed to get that?

Also, the grammar is wrong!

It should be "Are we dancers?"

Come on, Brandon, you're better than this.
