10 AWFUL Albums By Legendary Bands

9. Beastie Boys - The Mix Up (2007)

Take everything iconic about The Beastie Boys: the catchy riffs, heavy hip-hop beats, in-your-face lyrics and unique vocal performances. The Mix Up has none of that. Alas there are no witty lyrics to be delivered because there are no lyrics at all.

Although The Mix Up won a Grammy award for Best Pop Instrumental Album (2007 was a slow year for music) it was a sucker punch to fans as it had been released just after their Solid Gold Hits album - a testament to all things legendary about The Beastie Boys.

Traditionally, the release of a greatest hits album means that the band's best days are behind them. It would have been a real Beastie Boys move to follow that up with an album full of punk energy and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Instead, they decided to put out a collection of songs resembling elevator music .

Worst song: Dramastically Different

It's essentially what the Starksy And Hutch soundtrack would sound like if it were recorded with an Iranian dotar. Maybe there is an Iranian version of the show: Siravand And Hashem.

What's good: The cartoon album artwork is quality. Especially the way they made a block of cheese look like the letter A.
