10 Bad Closing Songs On Great Rock Music Albums

4. They’re Red Hot - Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Even without its final track, the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Red Hot Chili Peppers comes in at over 70 minutes long.

So, did they really need to tack on a weird blues pastiche to the end of it?

They're Red Hot was first recorded in 1936 by blues guitarist/devilish dealmaker Robert Johnson. The Johnson version is a simple, dancey number with the singer singing at a reasonable pace.

It is not a blistering, semi-rap number that completely takes the mick.

Playing the same riff and adding in some drums and bass (and speeding the whole thing up by about 1000%), the Chilis version of the song is utterly off the rails.

To be fair, most of what the band was doing in the 90s was utterly off the rails; this is the album with Give It Away on it, after all. However, this was just too much.

To get to the end of such a lengthy album only to be greeted by what can only be described as a prank is a major disappointment.

Surely this could have been left on the cutting room floor?
