10 Bad Opening Songs On Great Rock Music Albums

5. And The Gods Made Love - Electric Ladyland (The Jimi Hendrix Experience)

The third and final studio release from Jimi Hendrix and his experience, Electric Ladyland stands out as one of psychedelia's finest works.

Songs like Crosstown Traffic, All Along the Watchtower, and Voodoo Child (Slight Return) are some of the first people think of when they think of Hendrix, and they're all from this album.

It's probably safe to say that nobody is going to recall And the Gods Made Love when asked to name songs off Electric Ladyland. It's one minute and 22 seconds of tape loops all smooshed together to create an otherworldly instrumental. The track's a bit odd, but it's not hurting anybody.

The problem is, the rest of the album is so perfectly sequenced.

Had And the Gods Made Love never been included, the album would've started with the beautiful Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland). This well-crafted, soulful tune essentially serves as an introduction to the record anyway, so why not just make it the official starting point?

Instead, one of the best albums from the 1960s will forever have this weird little nub stuck on the front of it.
