10 Bad Songs From Great Bands
8. The Beatles - Wild Honey Pie (The White Album, 1968)
To say Wild Honey Pie is an uneasy listen as quite the understatement. Conceived in the middle of The Beatles experimental stage, the track sees a lone Paul McCartney creatively layering a number of psychedelic sounds and vocal harmonies through the use of multi-tracking. Pauls whirring vocals feel incredibly jarring, as he continually shrieks Honey Pie over a bed of razor-sharp sounds.
There may be some nice guitar melodies scattered throughout, but this slice of 50 second filler rightfully earns its place in The Beatles otherwise sparsely populated hall of shame. With John and Ringo busy working on other songs and George on vacation, you have to suspect that McCartney must have slipped this one onto the record hoping that nobody would notice.
